As a mother of an incarcerated child I understand first-hand the transportation challenges of visiting a loved one in prison. However as a Correctional Nurse for over a decade, I have witnessed how a lack of family support through visiting negatively impacts those who are imprisoned.
Family support of an incarcerated individual is vital to reducing the recidivism rate in minorities and a positive step to providing this support is with regularly scheduled visitation.
